Thad Holly, 47 of Sidney, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 3, at the Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Denver.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Rev. Thomas Hyde officiating. Services will conclude at the church with military flag presentation by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home. Friends who wish can sign the register book at the funeral home on Monday.

An account for memorial contributions has been set up at Points West Bank. Donations will be shared with a fund for his children's education and pancreatic cancer research.

Thad Paul Holly, the son of Bruce and Sandra (Houk) Holly was born March 16, 1968, in Chicago Heights, Ill. He grew up in Illinois where he graduated from Yorkville High School in June of 1986. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1986 and became an electronics technician on the Trident Sub Force stationed in Bangor, Wash., serving aboard the USS Georgia submarine.

On April 25, 1987 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Jago in Geneva, Ill. In 1988, Thad was transferred to the Naval Ordinance Test Unit at Cape Canaveral, Fla., where he served until his Honorable Discharge on Aug. 29, 1991. He then attended the University of Central Florida, graduating in May of 1993 with a Bachelors of Science in math education.

Thad and Jennifer welcomed their first child Brendan in 1995 and their daughter Autumn in 1998.

The Holly family moved to Sidney in August of 2002 where Thad took a position at Cabela's. He became a Senior Manager of E-commerce Technology for Cabela's in 2012.

Thad will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, strength and bravery. He was a unique individual with an amazing ability to touch the hearts of those he met.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer of Sidney; son Brendan Holly of Danville, Ky .; daughter Autumn Holly of Sidney; his parents: Bruce and Sharon Holly of Midway, Ark. and Sandra Walker of Flint, Mich .; two sisters: Lisa Holly of Island Lake, Ill. and Wendy and John Danley of Cary, Ill .; one brother Dave Holly of Sandwich, Ill., as well as many friends.
