Raiders 'win' Western Trails tournament

Although Sidney couldn't technically win the Western Conference Trails Tournament since they are not a member of the conference, the Raiders edged Bridgeport by half a point to take home the top spot in the tournament held Thursday in Kimball. Five Sidney wrestlers - Trey Arellano (106), Kaden Vowers (113), Jack Feddersen (132), Derek Robb (152) and Cody Hofrock (220) - each won their individual weight classes as well.

Is it possible to win a tournament without actually winning it?

Sidney did just that Thursday at the Western Trails Conference Tournament in Kimball.

The Raiders bested Bridgeport by half a point in the team standings to take the top spot in the tournament, even though they couldn't technically win since they are not a member of the conference.

Sidney wrestling coach John Ganser said the tournament gave his team quality mat time and helped shake some rust off after the Christmas break.

Thursday's tournament also provided a unique finish - a half point win, something that has never happened...
