1929 to 2016

Donna Mae Soucie, 86 of Sidney, passed away at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care, Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 15. Wake Services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14. Both services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Donna Mae's name to St. Patrick's Church or SRMC Hospice. Donna Mae Soucie was born on July 21, 1929, in Fullerton, to Bernard "Ben" and Elizabeth (Birkel) Messing. During World War II the family moved to Hastings, where Donna Mae attended and graduated from St. Cecilia Catholic School. On April 6, 1948, she married Leonard Soucie at St. Cecilia Catholic Church and to this union seven children were born, including a set of triplets. They farmed thirteen years at Doniphan and moved to a farm west of Lodgepole in 1962. Upon retirement they moved to Sidney in 2001.

Donna Mae was an active member of Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's Altar Societies. During her few hours of spare time Donna Mae enjoyed embroidering beautiful keepsakes for her family. Holiday gatherings were held at the farm and at Sidney until the family outgrew the house. After moving to Sidney, she helped to serve funeral dinners with the St. Patrick's Altar Society and enjoyed very much her time working at the Rummage House. For several years during retirement, Leonard and Donna Mae drove cars for Wolf's between their dealerships.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years: Leonard; her (5) sons and (2) daughters: Dennis (Libby) of Sidney, Douglas (Marietta) of Juniata, Delmar (Marilyn) of Sterling, Colo., Donald (Coreen) of Lodgepole, Deborah (John) Dana of Sunol, Diane (Dwight) Mitchell of Hastings, and Dean of Sunol; (23) grandchildren; (1) step-grandchild; (30) great-grandchildren; (3) step-great-grandchildren; (1) brother: Paul (Elaine) Messing of Loveland, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Donna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, (1) grandchild: Jeff Soucie, (1) brother: Eugene and (1) sister: Grace and their spouses.
