Agri-Eco Tourism could benefit local tourism

Cheyenne County Visitors Center Tourism Director Heather Housmann is hard at work to promote tourism in Cheyenne County.

At Monday's county commissioners meeting, she discussed ideas and upcoming events, including the Argi-Eco Tourism Conference in February, which will be hosted by Visit Nebraska.Visit Nice. Argi-Eco Tourism is an industry that utilizes agriculturally based resources to attract visitors, Hausman said.

"Argi-Eco tourism is a growing industry because, people are using agriculture differently," she said.

Hausmann has partnered with Sidney Economic Development Director Tina Hochwender for the conference. Huasmann said she looks forward to having a follow-up presentation open to the community and for those interested in learning more about Argi-Eco Tourism and its benefits.

In addition to the conference, other events in the future for tourism in Cheyenne County include "Downtown Sounds" and "Girls Day Out."

Hausmann said she is looking to "create additional ways to bring people in, and promote growth in our community."
