Lady Coyotes defeat Garden County; Leyton tops Creek Valley

Potter-Dix improved to 14-2 on the season with a 61-27 thrashing of Garden County on Friday.

The Lady Coyotes stormed out to a 23-9 first quarter lead and took a 41-15 advantage at halftime. They also outscored the Lady Eagles 20-12 in the second half.

Anna McLaughlin led Potter-Dix with 12 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Brooke Glass and Cortney Lewis added 11 points each. Audrey Juelfs dished out seven assists, had six steals and pulled down five rebounds on the night.

Saturday's game against Leyton was canceled due to a leak in the gym roof.

Potter-Dix returns to play Tuesday at Peetz, Colo.

Leyton 45, Creek Valley 41

Leyton took the early lead and held off a late Creek Valley rally to win 45-41 on Friday night.

The Lady Warriors (9-7) went up 11-9 and held a 22-15 advantage at halftime. They were up 33-25 heading into the fourth quarter. The Storm (10-8) outscored the Lady Warriors 16-12 in the final quarter.

Natalie Cruise had a double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds, to lead Leyton on the night. Katie Higgins added 10 points, while Diedra Waite added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Jessie Straber led the Storm with 16 points and also had four assists and two steals. Samantha Schmid also had 13 points. Andi Ortgies led the team with 10 rebounds, while Payje Misegadis also pulled down eight boards.

Leyton's game on Saturday against Potter-Dix was canceled due to a leak in the gym roof.

Creek Valley returns to play Tuesday by hosting Perkins County, while Leyton hosts Bayard on Tuesday.

Briggsdale 62, Peetz 24

Peetz 45, Weldon Valley 31

Peetz split a pair of games over the weekend.

The Lady Bulldogs fell behind early in a 62-24 loss at Briggsdale. The Lady Falcons (14-2) went up 19-5 in the first quarter and rolled to the win.

Jodie Schumacher led Peetz (4-12) with 12 points and seven rebounds. Mikenna Curlee added seven points and pulled down six boards.

The Lady Bulldogs rebounded with a 45-31 win on Saturday against Weldon Valley.

Peetz exploded out to a 14-3 first quarter advantage and went on to lead 20-11 at halftime.

Cami Thompson led three Lady Bulldogs in double figured with 13 points. Schumacher scored 12 points while Curlee added 10 points. Thompson also had a team-high seven rebounds, while Curlee and Schumacher pulled down six each.

The Lady Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday with a home game against Potter-Dix.
