Vowers advances in consolation round at state

Sidney's Kaden Vowers, top, advanced in the consolation round on Friday morning in the 113 weight class with a 4-1 decision win over Trevor Holley of Gothenburg. He was set to wrestle again on Friday night.

Sidney wrestlers had just a pair of bouts Friday morning at the Nebraska state championships in Omaha.

In the 113 weight class, Kaden Vowers kept alive with a 4-1 win by decision over Trevor Holley of Gothenburg in the second consolation round. Vowers' win moves him into the third round of consolation, which is set for 5 p.m. CST Friday. If he wins Friday night, Vowers will move on in the consolation bracket with another match at 9:30 a.m. CST Saturday.
