Dorothy was born July 18, 1930, in Cheyenne County to Frank and Esther (Nightingale) Deaver. She attended rural schools and graduated from Sidney High School.

On Feb. 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harry H. Stein the St. Paul's Lutheran Church northeast of Potter. They spent their entire married life on the family farm northwest of Sidney. Two sons, Gary and Stan were born to this union. After twenty-five years of marriage, Harry died at his farm home on July 19, 1975. Dorothy moved into Sidney in 1982.

Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, church activities, traveling, gardening, spending time with family and friends and watching her grandchildren grow. In 1995, Dorothy suffered a massive stroke which changed her independent lifestyle. Despite losing most of her verbal communication, Dorothy's personality was unchanged, remaining bright and upbeat.

Dorothy was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend to all.
