Alexander P. Haberkorn

1934 to 2016

Alexander P. Haberkorn of Sterling, Colo., passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, in Charleston, S.C. Alex was born in Sterling on April 5, 1934. He married Ida Faye Hull on Oct. 14, 1957. She passed away on Oct. 29, 1967. He moved to Sidney in 1968 where he raised his children. He proudly served as a Communication Specialist for the Nebraska State Patrol until he retired in 1996. Alex is a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean war. His lifeline hobby was his HO train collection.

He is survived by his children, Timothy and daughter-in-law Becky Haberkorn of Sterling. Roberta Simpson of Summerville, S.C. He leaves behind grandchildren: Stacy Fernandez, Sharla and Shandra Simpson, Steve and Shelby Haberkorn. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren. He will be missed by a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Knights of Columbus, located at 421 S. 11th Ave., Sterling, CO.
