Leyton wins MAC speech title

Leyton High School won the Minuteman Activities Conference speech meet last week, besting eight competitors for the win.

Among other local schools, Potter-Dix finished second and Creek Valley took fifth place.

Leyton's lone first place finish came in the duet acting category, as the team of Katie Higgins and Jessica Houk won the event. Keverett Rusk and Justice Palmer of Potter-Dix finished second, while the team of Keith Everitt and Nash Leef of Creek Valley took third place.

The winning Warriors did have several high finishes. Higgins, Ernest and Abbe Draper took second in oral interpretation of drama, Caitlyn Deal finished second in informative speaking, Danielle Higgins took second in persuasive speaking, D.J. George finished second in entertainment speaking, Bailey Cooper took second in extemporaneous speaking, and Aaron Schrotberger finished second in humorous prose.

Even though Potter-Dix finished second in the team standings, the Coyotes won five events at the meet. The team of Sam Bogert, Regyn Hicks, Palmer, Rusk and Dawson Sharman won the oral interpretation of drama category. Michaela Rotert won in informative speaking, Hicks won in persuasive speaking, Levi Kasten took first in entertainment speaking and Brooke Moench won in poetry.
