Nelson Edward "Ed" Williams

Nelson Edward "Ed" Williams passed September 10, 2015, in Surprise, Ariz. He was born and raised in Sturgis, S.D. to Richard B. and Ruth (Kingsbury) Williams.

Ed graduated from Sturgis HS in 1955. After he graduated from college and served in Germany for three years with the U.S. Army, he married Glenice Meline from Ogallala. They lived in Lakewood, Colo. 39 years where they raised their family. He spent his entire career in the oilfield. In 1975, he became National Sales Manager for the Oilfield Division of Calgon Corporation and in 1979 started his own company, O-Tech, Inc., that he owned and operated until his death.

He was a proud member of NACE, SPE, AWWA, the Elks Club. His passions in life were his family, friends making people laugh, mining/geology, playing guitar singing old time country music, history, cowboy poetry, fishing, his dogs and the Denver Broncos.

He will be remembered for the way he could light up a room, his sense of humor/wit, Ed"isms", remarkable memory, his knowledge of trivia to the menial degree aka "Cliff Clavin", his big heart and love of people. He knew no strangers.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Glenice, two daughters Shelley Maurer (Dave) and Kristi Gjellum (John), granddaughters Sarah Maurer, Marisa Maurer, and Morgan Maurer, his brother Marshall Williams (Sharon), his Aunt Marietta Brodsky, nephews, nieces, many close friends and his dog, Smooch, his constant companion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy Iverson and nephew Rich Iverson. A Celebration of his Life was held October 24, 2015 in Denver, Colo. with inurnment being at the Black Hills National Cemetery, May 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Fort Meade Museum, P.
