Sidney golfers finish in top ten at state

At first appearance it appeared Ethan Eckhardt was caught dead to rights as he slide into third base in Thursday night Cal Ripkin Major action. But third baseman Hayden Sircy bobbled the ball and Eckhardt, who had hit a home run earlier, went on to score once more.

When Sidney's high school golf team began the season, there were hopes for a good season.

But in the beginning coach Chuck Christinsen didn't expect quite such a strong finish.

"If you would have told me we would be in the top 10 at state I would have been extatic," Christiansen said following the Raiders' trip to state.

But that's exactly where Sidney finished and Christiansen and team members alike feel they could have done even better.

Christiansen said Sidneys' play was marred with errors, and "everybody's game from 120 yards in was not good."
