Daniel J. Frerichs, 81 of Sidney, passed away at his home, Monday, June 13.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 17 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Pastor Scott Bloomquist of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday, from 1-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to SRMC Hospice or the Sidney Elks Lodge of 1894. Daniel Jacob Frerichs, the son of Clifford Dale and Ethel Berniece (Mauer) Frerichs, was born on January 12, 1935 at Sidney, NE. Dan attended country school at Colton and Dalton, worked for numerous farmers and the Water Department for the City of Sidney. He was a member of the Eagles, the Sidney Elks and the Sidney Fire Department. Dan enjoyed working on cars, camping, fishing and in later years helping out in the shop with his son Randy.

Survivors include his wife: Abbie Leoma of Sidney; daughter: Debra Taylor and husband Jack of Lodgepole; sons: Randy and wife Patty of Sidney and Michael and wife Vivian of Albion; his mother: Ethel Frerichs of Dalton; brothers: Phil and wife Fran Frerichs of Gurley and Tom and wife Sonja Frerichs of Gurley; (10) grandchildren; (26) great-grandchildren; son-in-law: Jerry Pennel and wife Anita and numerous extended family members and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his father: Clifford; daughter: Connie Sue Pennel and great-granddaughter: Isabella Pennel.
