Madeline M. Musil - Obituary

Madeline M. Musil, age 95 of Kimball, and longtime Potter and Sidney resident, passed away at the Kimball County Manor, Thursday, December 24, 2015.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. There will be no wake or Rosary Services. Inurnment will follow at 1 p.m. in the Potter Cemetery.

Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday to sign Madeline's register book and leave condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Madeline's name to the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Madeline Maxine Musil, the daughter of John Roy and Signa (Isaacson) Westrick, was born on July 9, 1920 at Scandia, KS. She grew up in Belleville, KS and attended Belleville High School. On April 1, 1938 Madeline met Millard S. Musil at a dance Millard was playing in Belleville. On July 5, 1938 she was united in marriage to Millard. They lived in Clay Center and Grand Island, NE where Millard played in a band. In 1940 they moved to their farm in Potter, NE. From the 1940s to 2012 she was very active in the Social Neighbors Club and Beta Signa Phi Sorority. During the 60s and 70s Madeline worked at the Potter Public School as a cook. In 1979 they retired and moved to Sidney where she was active in the BPOE (Elks) Does. In 2012 Madeline moved into the Kimball County Manor in Kimball, NE. Over the years she and many of the other band member's wives traveled to numerous locations where their husband's band was playing.

Survivors include her son: Larry Dean Musil and wife Velva of Avondale, AZ; son-in-law: Dean Willoughby of Pine Bluffs, WY; grandchildren: Jeff Willoughby and wife Marnie of Pine Bluffs, Julie (Willoughby) Goyen and husband John of Cheyenne, WY, Lisa (Musil) Bernhardt and husband Mark of Wellington, CO, Lynn Musil and wife Caitlynn of Huntington Beach, CA, Larry Chouteau and wife Susan of Phoenix, AZ, Christine Arnold of Avondale, AZ and Bob Chouteau and wife Jody of Phoenix, AZ; (12) great-grandchildren; (6) great-great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.

Madeline was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, daughter: Sherryl and brother: Raymond.
