Chart topping performer hits the Sidney stage Wednesday evening

Casey Donahew has come a long way in his journey, from a farm boy in Texas to a chart topping performer on the music scene. He is set to play the stage at the Cheyenne County Fair Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Before his love of music, Donahew had and a love for riding and team roping on the farm. The spark he has for music was first introduced with a guitar given to him be his grandpa.

An alternative country musician, he has played venues of all sizes from Red Rocks to county fairs, consistently selling out venues across the country.

Donahew has topped the Texas charts on more then one occasion, racking up twelve number one singles throughout the course of his career.

According to his biography, Donahew is a self-made artist, who made his debut on the stage of the Thirsty Armadillo bar, in Fort Worth Texas in the Fall of 2002.

Forging a successful name in the music industry is no small feat, and Donahew's journey was no different.

"With the help of wife Melinda, he has painstakingly carved out a niche for himself on the country scene and built his career from the ground up, one show at a time."

Furthering his musical career, Donahew released his 2011 release, "Double Wide Dream," that debuted at number two on the iTunes Country Chart and number 10 on the Billboard Country Chart. The success of the release lead to three number one singles, "Double Wide Dream," "Let's Not Say Goodbye Again," and "One Star Flag."

According to the press release, Donahew's latest CD, Standoff, topped the iTunes Country Chart at No. 1 upon its release and also hit the Overall iTunes Chart in the number eight position. Standoff has also yielded five number one radio singles titled, "Whiskey Baby," "Small Town Love," "Lovin' Out of Control," "Not Ready To Say Goodnight," and the most recent Number one "Loser."

Donahew is currently recording his next studio album, "All Night Party," with acclaimed producer Josh Leo.

"We are extremely excited to have Casey Donahew perform at the fair, especially since there hasn't been a musical act in a few years," Fair board member Brad Zalesky said

Donahew's opening act is local musician, Matt Johnson.

Zalesky said there will be a free barbeque at the event as well as a fireworks show to top off the event.
