Visitors Center offers bus tour

Cheyenne County’s Visitors Center is offering a bust tour to area attractions.

In a prior interview, Heather Hausmann, Executive Director of the Cheyenne County Visitors Center said, “I have seen others do the bus tours in the past, and they have been successful, we want people to talk about, promote and experience Cheyenne County.”

There was a change to the tour’s date, which will now be held August 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide visitors and locals the opportunity to experience part of that culture.

Hausmann said there were no changes to the tour itself.

Departing from the visitor center, located at 658 Glover Road, at 9:30 a.m., the tour will go past the Pony Express Monument, Fort Sidney Commanders home, Post Commanders home, and through downtown Sidney on its way to Potter.

In Potter participants will visit the Potter Sundry, home of the Tin Roof Sundae, and the Duckpin Bowling ally.

Traveling to Dalton via the Sioux Army Depot, the group will then visit Prairie Schooner museum and the Dalton market.

Last stop on the tour is Lodgepole, where the group will have the opportunity to explore the Lodgepole Depot Museum and enjoy wine tasting at the Junkyard Bar.

“Rolls will be available for purchase, along with complementary coffee at the Potter Sundry,” Hausmann said, “sack lunches are also available for $7 at the Dalton market stop.”

Hausmann said the participants will take the Sidney Red Raider bus on the tour, which seats fifty people and reservations must be made by August 10.

“We have forty seats still available,” Hausmann said.
