Just a reminder: school right around the corner

Back to school can mean a lot of things. It can mean the end of sun-washed skin and sparkling chlorinated blues. It can mean eating the last of the popsicles, relishing lazy hot days filled with lemonade and last-minute traveling. It can mean obnoxious ads with kids dancing in retail clothing and the acknowledgement that the dog days truly are over and that snow is now upon us.

But for now, back to school means a few reminders.

With three weeks of summer break left, students can make the most of these last few days — but don’t forget to keep a few of these dates in mind.

Scheduling Changes:

Red Raider Seniors and Juniors wishing to make changes to their schedules can stop by the high school Wednesday, August 10th from 9am-Noon. Juniors and Seniors may also register for locks this day.

Sophomores and Freshmen can stop by Thursday, August 11th from 9am-Noon.

All high school schedules will be mailed August 1st.

New Students:

New Student Enrollment is August 9am-Noon, from 1-3pm.

Middle School:

Sidney Middle School schedules will be mailed home the week of August 8th and the school will be open on Thursday, August 11th from 8 a.m.-noon for incoming 7th graders to organize their lockers and locate classrooms.

Essentials:

PowerSchool (online grading portal) will not be available until the week of August 8th. This will allow time for all schedules to be mailed home and changes to schedules to be made. If a parent is not registered to view online grades and would like to create an account they may do so from the homepage of sidneyraiders.org.

Students planning on participating in participating in sports, cheer, and danz during the 2016-17 school year may get physicals from SRMC. Forms are available either from SRMC or can be downloaded from sidneyraiders.org. Forms need to be turned in by Friday, August 12, and can be turned into the High School office. Remember to check all forms to see if they are filled out and signed by the physician, parents/guardians, and student.

For incoming seventh graders, Nebraska State Law requires that all students entering seventh grade have a Tdap Booster (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) before school entrance. Date of immunization, scheduled appointment or waiver can be taken to the school office after August 1st but must be turned in before August 18th.

Students can receive Tdap immunizations locally at Safeway and Walmart pharmacies and by appointment at SRMC.

Dates to put in your calendar:
