Lady Raiders fall to eventual state runner-up

LINCOLN - Sidney's Lady Raiders gave it a valiant effort, but succumbed in the first round of the Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament to a powerful Northwest team that eventually made a run for the state title.

Sidney scored the first point of the match at Pinnacle Bank Arena, before Northwest took control for a 25-16 first set win. The Lady Raiders fought from behind in the second set until, with Payton Jung serving, ran off three straight points, including a Jung ace, to tie the score 19-19.
