Potter-Dix choices head local MAC all-conference volleyball picks

 


A quartet of Potter-Dix players, who helped lead the Lady Coyotes to the Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament, led picks for the MAC All-Conference Volleyball team.

Lady Coyote seniors Dawson Sharman and Lanie Thies, and junior Audrey Juelfs were chosen for first team honors, while another senior, Alexus Rozelle, was chosen for the second team.

Other local players chosen for first team honors included Leyton’s Cheyenne Nickel and Creek Valley’s Payje Misegadis. Second team picks were Taylor Berner and Madelyn Watchorn from Leyton, and Samantha Schmid from Creek Valley.

Sharman scored 242 kills on the season, while serving 222 points, with 46 aces. She had 15 blocks322 digs, and 224 receives. Sharman also served with 99 percent efficiency over the course of the season.

Thies led the Lady Coyotes with 769 assists and added 28 blocks for, 194 digs and 176 points with 19 aces. She also was in on 28 blocks, and had 16 kills.

Juelfs, a part of the balanced Lady Coyote offensive attack, had 205 kills and 27 blocks in the front row, and had 182 points with 28 aces at the service line. From the middle of the court, the junior had 398 digs.

Rozelle led Potter-Dix with 258 kills, and had 85 blocks.

Leyton’s first-team pick, Nickel, led the Lady Warrior offensive attack with 170 kills, and added 56 blocks, while adding 296 points from the service line, 28 of those aces. Nickel also had 269 digs and 283 receives.

Lady Warrior second team choice Berner had 92 kills, 45 assists and 30 blocks, while Watchorn contributed with 122 kills, 223 points with 32 aces, and 79 blocks.

Misegadis, a junior, led Creek Valley in both kills and blocks, slamming down 150 kills and stopping opponent attempts 85 times. She had 28 service aces, and a whopping 419 digs.

Schmidt’s strength was in setting up Storm hitters, notching 338 assists, and keeping the ball in play with 419 digs.

Receiving honorable mention for the MAC team were Hope Dykman of Leyton, Jessie Straber from Creek Valley, and Trinity Langley from Potter-Dix.
