Year in Review - Looking back at 2016

As we look back at the year 2016, we find that it was one of the most interesting for Sidney and Cheyenne County. From changes at city hall, to the sale of Cabela’s, Sidney faced changes that could affect the community for years to come.

While some events were cut and dried, others still hang under a cloud of uncertainty. In the Sun-telegraph’s pages today and Friday, we’ll bring some of those events back for review.

These events are a mix of the warm, from the end of an era in the case of the razing of the former Virgil’s Mexican Cafe, to the shocking in the case of Cabela’s eventual sale to competitor Bass Pro Shops.

The stories you’ll see in our year-end issues can’t be all-inclusive, but we hope they serve as reminders of some of the events that shaped our lives.

We hope to enter 2017 with hope that Sidney and Cheyenne County will continue not just to survive, but thrive as it meets the new year head on.
