The Sidney Police Department is sporting new badges to commemorate the city's establishment 150 years ago.

"We are proud to be a part of the community, and this is how we are showing it," Chief of Police Joe Aikens said. Aikens said the police are actively involved with the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce in preparing for the upcoming sesquicentennial celebrations, planning parade routes and providing traffic and security control.

The chamber, the city and the Cheyenne County Visitor's Center recently announced the event lineup for the Sinful Sidney Sesquicentennial Celebration, which will take place Aug. 18-20.
