Sidney's Trey Arellano rolls Connor Grant from Gering to his back in dual action last week. Arellano and the Raiders enter district action today, hoping to earn state berths.
After weeks of challenging health and injury issues, Sidney's wrestling team is back and healthy just in time for its most important meet of the year - the B4 District meet in McCook this weekend.
"We were finally able to get our team back last week," Sidney Coach John Ganser said.
For a while it was nip and tuck to see whether or not all of Sidney's wrestlers would be ready. Between injuries and illness, some team members were out of the action for extended lengths of time. When they came back, the lack of action showed in conditioning and the ability to make weight.
But Ganser said the recoveries showed last weekend when the team travelled to Yoder, Wyoming for its final pre-district meet, a duals tournament where wrestlers battled a hand full of teams.
