Sidney’s Red Raider boys track team scored in all 17 events Monday on the way to the 2017 Western Conference track title.

The Raiders got first place points in five events, two relays and three individual.

Jon Smith broke the tape first in the 300 meter hurdles with a 41.71 second performance. Also winning their events were Alex Linneman in the long jump (23-0-1/4) and Thomas Kokjer in the discus (137-04).

Sidney’s 4x800 relay team of Ben Bashtovoi, Will Castner, Kaden Vowers and Ryan Aurich bested that field with a 8:45.70.

The 4x100 relay team of Derek Robb, Coby Haas, Christian Balandran and Linneman was also first at 43.65 seconds. The same core group, substituting Mitch Porter for Haas, finished second in the 4x400.

Sidney was nipping at the heels of winners in a half dozen events. In addition to the 4x400 team, the Raiders got second place points from Balandran in the 100, and Brett Jaggers in the 800. Two athletes, Porter and Collin Brauer, finished second in two events - Porter in the high jump and triple jump, and Brauer in the 1600 and 3200.

Sidney’s girls, led by four individual championship performances, finished third in the team standings.

Winning for Sidney were Kelly Von Seggern in the 100 meters, Annalise Lecher in the discus, MJ Johnstone in the pole vault, and long jumper Natalie Radcliffe.
