Seniors win behind big fifth inning

Sidney's Senior Legion Baseball team blasted in five runs in the fifth inning, four of them with two outs, then held off a powerful Alliance squad in the final two innings to collect an 8-4 win Tuesday evening.

The outing was one showing the full potential of Sidney's Seniors, both offensively and defensively.

"Now they need to realize it," said Sidney Coach Ray Witt. "They are capable, just sometimes it seems they don't believe it."

In nearly every contest in their 4-5 season the Seniors have put together one or two spectacular offensive innings, seeming to take control of the game. But a number of times, opponents have taken advantage of defensive miscues to slowly overtake Sidney's lead.
