Calvin Duane Kurz Obituary

Calvin Duane Kurz passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 4:00 a.m. after enduring a long battle with liver disease. Cal was born to Howard and Violet Kurz on October 30, 1946 in Sidney, Nebraska.

He married Joanne Tucker of Sidney, Nebraska and then immediately deployed with the United States Air Force in 1966. After returning from the Vietnam War, they settled in California where he started his own successful pool plumbing and electrical company, Cal Plumbing, Inc. Prepping for retirement and continuing his love for aviation, he went back to school and earned his A&P license. Although Cal had a reserved personality and words often alluded him, his smile brightened the room and he'd go out of his way to help family, friends and strangers. We will all miss his sparkling baby blue eyes and his mischievous grin.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Violet Kurz and his brother Kenneth Kurz. He is survived by his father Howard Kurz of Sidney, NE, wife JoAnne Kurz of Corona, CA, daughters Barbara Crubaugh of Summerville, SC and Julie Blasofsel of Prospect, KY, son Wes Kurz of Elisnore, CA, adopted children Todd Kurz of Corona, CA, Samanatha Kurz of Orange County, CA, Sarah Neugebauer of Orange County, CA, and Dylan Kurz of Orange County, CA, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

A military honors interment service will be held graveside on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1:45 p.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery.
