Scout wants to repair Camp Fuller

Owen Kurz, Boy Scout Troop 90, approached the Sidney City Council Tuesday about repairing and rehabilitating Camp Fuller Boy Scout Camp.

The youth camp, named for land-owner Hubert R. Fuller, is located two miles west of Sidney.

"Camp Fuller was given in trust to the office of the mayor of the City of Sidney for the use and benefit of the Boy Scouts of America, Campfire Girls, and other character-building groups for the boys and girls of Sidney," Kurz said.

Kurz requested $500 in funds for the restoration effort.

Council member Wendall Gaston recommended funds not to exceed $750, which would be reimbursed by the city after Kurz submitted an invoice.

The funds will be drawn from a trust fund set up for Camp Fuller, which, according to Geri Anthony, Sidney City Clerk, has roughly $8,000.

The camp has fallen into a state of disrepair over the years, Kurz said, and presented the council with photos of the camp in its current state.
