Sidney golfers place third

The Sidney Red Raider girls golf team placed third in the Scottsbluff tournament on Aug. 29.

As a team, Sidney score 395. Gering lead the tournament with a team score of 362, followed by Scottsbluff with a 383. Chadron High School came in fourth with a 425.

Individually, Emma Alexander placed fourth in the top 10 Division 1 with a score of 88.

Also scoring for Sidney, Paige Langley finished with an even 100, Dru Rowan with a 103, Tiara Ginther finished with a 104 and Ashlee Ringleman scored a 131.

Coach Ryan Plummer called the tournament "another great chance for the girls to complete, especially with the amount of good competitors that were there."

"We finished overall third as a team and will carry that momentum hopefully Friday (today) in North Platte," Plummer said.

Gering's top finishers are Ashely Maschmeier with an 86, Avery Mitchell with an 89 and Ashley Mitchell with a 90; Scottsbluff's Shelby Poynter with a 72, Jayda Ahrens with a 100 and Hassie Hood with a 104; and Chadron's Alpine Hickstein with a 77, taurie Pourier with a 112 and Aubree Noble with a 113.

Team standings in the Divison 2 are Ogallala with a team score of 407, Mitchell with a 451, Gering JV with a 456, Bayard with a 474, Chadron JV with a 525 and Ogallala JV with a 532.

The girls golf team is in North Platte today and Chadron Sept. 5.
