Peetz battles Creek Valley in volleyball action

The game statistics tell one story, but the performance on the court tells another.

The Creek Valley Storm hosted the Peetz Bulldogs in volleyball action Thursday night in Chappell. Creek Valley has a 6-0 home record and 6-3 on the road. Peetz finished the game with a 1-4 travel record and 0-6 at home. Statistically, it should have been a quick game.

However, that is not what fans were treated to Thursday.

You can’t say the Lady Storm were flat in performance, but neither were the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs played like a team reaching their potential, pushing the match to three sets and extra points. Each set got tighter until a win was decided: 25-13, 25-16 and 26-24.

“We were definitely a different team than I have seen this season. We are just an inconsistent team and I am really hoping that last night’s (Thursday, Oct. 12) game was the turning point in our season and we can start playing consistent volleyball,” said Peetz coach Morgan Meier.

The Bulldogs accompanied the football to Fleming Friday, Oct. 13 for a rival match.

Meier said she hoped the team would continue the momentum from Thursday’s game against Creek Valley. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

The Fleming Wildcats handed the Lady Bulldogs another loss in three straight sets: 25-10, 25-11 and 25-8.

The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Merino Lady Rams Tuesday. The Lady Rams entered the contest with an 11-7 season record while Peetz is 1-16.
