Sidney Man Arrested In Stabbing Incident

Zackery Lee Clark, 22, of Sidney, was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 27, on charges of Second Degree Assault and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony following a stabbing incident at 577 Deborah Drive.

Officers responded to a call of a disturbance involving a knife at 11:28 a.m. at 577 Deborah Drive. Officers met a man and woman later identified as Zackery L. Clark and his mother Jacqueline Simbeck standing in the driveway. According to the arrest affidavit, Clark was observed as visibly upset and had a cut above his left eyebrow.

Clark reported to officers that his stepfather, Shawn Billinger, assaulted him. He further said that Billinger punched him in the face. Moments later, Officer Cory Lenstrom, who was inside the residence, reported finding a man who sustained a stab wound and needed medical attention. Billinger was escorted out of the house in handcuffs and placed in an ambulance.

After the cut above Clark's eyebrow was examined, he spoke with Sidney Police Sgt. Justin Loghry. Clark said he was in his bedroom with the door locked when he and Biollinger began arguing about paying the house rent. Clark later added he and his mother had already paid Billinger rent. Clark then added that Billinger is a methamphetamine user and wanted more money from them because they have jobs and he doesn't.

Clark said Billinger broke through the door during the argument. Clark said he was standing in the bedroom holding a knife when Billinger broke the door. Clark said Billinger punched him in the face, causing Clark to fall to the floor. Clark then claimed Billinger got on top of him and punched him.

Clark's mother, Jacqueline Simbeck, reported her son was in his room when Billinger kicked in the door and jumped on Clark. She also reported seeing Clark with a knife and Billinger trying to take it. She added that she pulled Billinger off of Clark.

Billinger was transported to Sidney Regional Medical Center and treated for a non life-threatening stab wound to his side.

While Clark was being transported to the Cheyenne County Jail, he told Sgt. Loghry that he and Billinger used meth one and a half days prior to the incident. Billinger was booked into Cheyenne County Jail without incident.
