Geraldine C. Brachtenbach, age 90 of Sidney, NE passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center

Extended Care in Sidney, Friday, January 5, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 11th in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Mike McDermott officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. No Wake or Rosary Services are planned at this time. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1-7:00 P.M., with family present from 5-6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Geraldine's name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Geraldine's care and funeral arrangements.

Geraldine Catherine Brachtenbach, was born on February 22, 1927 along with twin brother Gerald to Frank and Mary (Keller) Frauendorfer in Humphrey, NE. The family later moved to a farm south of Lodgepole and then to Sidney. Geraldine was united in marriage to Lawrence N. Brachtenbach on April 23, 1947 in Sidney. To this union three children were born, Corinne, Larry and Teresa. In the past she enjoyed quilting with her mother, gardening with her husband, playing bridge, bowling and being a DOES President. Geraldine was in the St. Patrick's Alter Society and spent many years painting the homes her husband built over the years.

Survivors include her children: Corinne McGee and husband Gary of Sidney, Larry Jr. and wife Traci Brachtenbach of Casper, WY and Teresa Nienhueser and husband David of Sidney; (6) grandchildren; Jo Becky Steffens, Austin & Chase Brachtenbach, Ashley Lundgren, Matthew Wells & Kaitlyn Wells (6) great-grandchildren; brother: Gene Frauendorfer of Milbrae, CA; sister: Marlene Linnenkamp and husband Jim of Johnstown, CO; brother-in-law: Leo Brachtenbach and wife Joan of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law: Mary Ann Waggoner and husband John of Arvada, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence, twin grandsons, her parents, her parents-in-law, Nick & Kate Brachtenbach (2) brothers, Leonard & Gerald (1) sister Bernice Niemoller and (4) sisters-in-law, Julie Frauendorfer, Helen Hengl, Artie Frauendorfer & Kathryn Pelloni.
