Lady Bulldogs Need First Win

The Peetz Lady Bulldogs basketball team dropped two more games last week to see their record fall to 0-11 (0-5 in league). The girls continue to gain experience and learn to play together as unit while they struggle with scoring.

Peetz first hosted the Sedgwick County Lady Cougars in a non-conference matchup. The Lady Cougars (4-9, 0-4 in league) had struggled themselves this season, and were looking for a victory to earn some positive momentum. The Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Bulldogs 27-9 in the first half, having no difficulty beating Peetz’s defense and stifling the inexperienced home team’s offense.

The second half continued with the third period showing a lopsided 26-4 scoring advantage for the visitors. The fourth quarter was an opportunity for the Lady Cougars to utilize their bench to get their younger players some minutes, and to work on offensive and defensive sets. The game finished with a final score of 57-15 in favor of the Lady Cougars.

Next the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Weldona to take on a tough Weldon Valley Lady Warriors team. Again, the first quarter was the deciding period in the game, with the Lady Warriors taking advantage of the Lady Bulldogs, scoring 30 points while shutting out the vising team. By the end of the half, Weldon Valley held a 47-4 advantage.

The bright spot in the contest came in the third quarter when the Lady Bulldogs were able to string together multiple scoring plays while executing well on defense. The third quarter ended with the Lady Bulldogs scoring 17 points while limiting the Lady Warriors to only nine points. The game ended with a final score of 64-25, in favor of the home team.

Tonight, the Lady Bulldogs travel to New Raymer to take on the Prairie Mustangs in a conference matchup.
