Peetz Boys Dominate Weekend Foes Briggsdale, Creek Valley, Remain Undefeated

Peetz boys’ undefeated basketball season continued on Friday and Saturday as the Bulldogs beat both Briggsdale and Creek Valley on the road in convincing fashion.

The wins improve the Bulldog’s record to 16-0 (8-0 in league) as they head to tournament play.

Friday’s contest against the Briggsdale Falcons (4-11, 3-5 in league) started out surprisingly close, but the Bulldogs were able to run away from the Falcons by a score of 30-13 at the half. The Bulldogs then continued to score at will tacking on another 35 points in the second half to ring up another victory, 65-32.

On Saturday, Peetz traveled to Chappell to square off against the Creek Valley Storm (8-8, 3-3 in district) for a non-conference matchup. The game started with each team hitting three-point shots from the field, but then Peetz went on a run and the Bulldogs led 23-10 at the end of the first period.

Peetz senior Logan Sircy then went on a tear in the second period, going seven for seven from the field, with three of those shots being three pointers. Creek Valley hung in as best they could, with 18 points from junior Tanner Crass and senior Michael Smith to keep the score 43-22 at the half.

At the half, the Storm made some adjustments and handled the pressure defense of Peetz much better than in the first half. The Storm were able to score 21 points in the quarter, but Peetz’s Logan Sircy scored another seven and the Bulldogs were able to match Creek Valley’s 21 points in the quarter with 21 of their own. The fourth quarter had both defenses clamping down, with Peetz only scoring nine points in the quarter. However, Creek Valley was unable to pick up any ground, as they were also limited to nine points of scoring in the quarter also. The Bulldogs continued their unbeaten season with a victory by a final score of 71-52. Logan Sircy led all scorers with 34 points, while Creek Valley junior Tanner Crass led the Storm’s scorers with 20 points in the losing effort.

Peetz hosted Potter-Dix on Tuesday, and Creek Valley hosted Perkins on Tuesday as well.
