Sharon L. Zitterkoph - Obituary

Sharon L. Zitterkoph, age 69 of Gering, NE passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Sterling, CO.

Cremation has been held. Private family graveside services will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. No Formal services are planned at Sharon's request. Sharon L. Zitterkoph, the daughter of Anthony and Esther (Becker) Taugner, was born on March 16, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI. She moved with her family to Scottsbluff at a young age where she later attended Gering Jr. High and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1966. While in High School, Sharon worked at Bluffs Pharmacy. After graduation, Sharon moved to Bridgeport and attended Sabina's Beauty School. In 1967 she returned to Scottsbluff to attend Hollywood Beauty College and began working at Charm Beauty Salon. On August 24, 1969, Sharon was united in marriage to Larry A. Zitterkoph. They moved to the Gering area where they lived for more than forty-eight years. On February 22, 1971 their first child, Crystal Lynn was born. Sharon began working from home while she raised her family which included second child, Matthew Allen, born on April 29, 1975.

Sharon was active in the Cedar Canyon Women's Club, the Girl Scouts and participated in 4-H with Crystal and Matt. She enjoyed gardening and putting her "green thumb" to work in her flower beds. Sharon was very dedicated to her family and loved baking and cooking for them. In her spare time Sharon enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and playing board games with them. She kept herself busy with crossword puzzles and rarely missed an episode of the Young and the Restless.

Survivors include her husband: Larry of Gering; daughter: Crystal Burr and husband William of Chappell; son: Matthew Zitterkoph and wife Heather of Gering; grandchildren: Alyssa Dewald and husband Austin of Omaha, Ashley Burr of Chadron and Madison Zitterkoph of Gering; brother: David Dermer and wife Dianne of Bayard and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, step-father: Richard Dermer, her mother and a brother: Richard Dermer.
