Wheat Belt Announces Scholarship Winners

Wheat Belt awarded one $1,000 Basin Electric Scholarship, one $100 Arbor Wealth Scholarship, two $500 Tri-State Scholarships and one $2,000 Wheat Belt Lineman Scholarships to five outstanding area youths.

Samantha Rae Schmid was selected to receive the $1,000 Basin Scholarship. Samantha is the daughter of Daniel Lee and Michelle Lee Schmid of Oshkosh. Samantha Rae plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Her major course of study will be Psychology.

Derek Robb was selected to receive a $500 Tri-State Scholarship. Derek is the son of Charles and Angela Robb of Sidney. Derek plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney. His major course of study will be Pre-Physical Therapy.

Blake McCormick was selected to receive the second $500 Tri-State Scholarship. Blake is the son of Steve and Teresa McCormick of Lewellen. Blake plans to attend Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis. His major course of study will be Equipment Management.

Brittney Newkirk was selected to receive the $100 Arbor Wealth Scholarship. Brittney is the daughter of William and Jill Newkirk of Bridgeport. Brittney plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Her major course of study will be Elementary Education.

Dalton Schilz was selected to receive a $2,000 Wheat Belt Lineman Scholarship. Dalton is the son of Chris and Christina Schilz of Sidney. Dalton plans to attend Western Nebraska Community College in Alliance. His major course of study will be Powerline Construction and Maintenance.
