Sidney Danz Team at State Dance Competition

The music thundered and the supporting fans cheered as the Sidney High School Danz Team performed at the State Dance competition.

Sidney Danz Team competed at state in mid February and returned home with third place in kick and fifth place in hip-hop.

They "performed amazingly at state" said Sidney Danz Team head coach Mitchelle Weimer. The team placed high, but the preparation for state was not easy. Mitchelle said they spent countless hours learning and perfecting their routines. Practice, for them, started in November. Three times a week for two hours each, the Danz Team was working hard on their state routines.

The day of their performance began with hair and makeup being done before leaving for the event center. They were able to have help from Headlines salon with their hair and makeup. Once at the event center, they were able to watch and support other teams.

They had a long day with two performances with only two hours in between the performances to prepare and to eat. The year ended strongly for both the seniors and everyone else on the team.

"The girls walked off the floor knowing they had left their hearts on the floor," Coach Weimer said.

Danz Team members are: Angela Arnett, Lauren Beatty, Kristina Davis, Julia Evertson, Adriana Falcon, Alexah Fort, Karsyn Huck, Lauren Jones, Jenna Keane, Alaina Kuhns, Kaylin Neumann, Shayla Schilz, Sarah-Kate Splichal, Drew Stiles, Devany Turner, Emma Tuzicka, Elizabeth Weimer and Kollyn Weimer.
