Area Coaches Named to West Nebraska All-Star Games

Several area high school football and volleyball coaches have been named to participate in the annual West Nebraska All-Star Football and Volleyball games.

The games will be played on June 9 in Scottsbluff.

This year’s football game celebrates the 40th anniversary of the West Nebraska All-Star game, and is being played at Bearcat Stadium at Scottsbluff High School at 7 p.m. on June 9.

Two teams representing the eastern portion of west Nebraska and the western portion will face off in the annual match, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting local organizations.

For the West team, Jordan Haas from Hemingford will act as head coach for the game. He will be assisted by Scott Jorgensen (Paxton), Chris Koozer (Sidney), Lance Steffen (Perkins County) and Taryn Wood (Hemingford).

For the East team, Craig Haake from Gothenburg will act as head coach for the game. He will be assisted by Justin Dowdy (Gothenburg), Scott Porter (Cambridge), Denis Reese (Loomis) and Andy Schwartz (South Loup).

The West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game will be held also on June 9th, but earlier in the afternoon at Cougar Palace on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff at 2pm. 2018 is the 34th year the game has been played, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting local organizations as well.

Michelle Peters from Mitchell will lead the West team. Assisting her will be Brad Hicks (Potter-Dix). Leading the East team will be Pat Hoblyn from Ansley-Litchfield. Neleigh Hall (Cozad) will be her assistant.
