Area Teams Compete in MAC Invite

On Saturday, the Creek Valley, Leyton, and Potter-Dix track teams traveled to Bayard to compete in the MAC Invitational Track & Field Meet.

On both the men's and women's sides, Bayard came out on top at the meet, while the Creek Valley women's team finished second and the Creek Valley boy's team finished third. The Potter-Dix and Leyton women's teams finished tied for third, while the Potter-Dix men's team finished fourth and the Leyton men's team finished sixth out of a total of eight competing teams.

For the men's teams, performances of note included Creek Valley junior Garret Sawyer finishing second in both the 100 meter and 200 meter races, while Creek Valley juinor Cooper Reichman finished second in the 1600 meters. Creek Valley's 4x100 meter relay team

finished first and the 4x400 relay team finished second in their events. Also, Creek Valley senior Pierce Leef and sophomore Noah Knapp finished second and third in the Pole Vault.

Potter-Dix junior Grant Hickman won the Long Jump and finished second in the High Jump. Leyton senior Kort Dye finished third in the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles.

For the women's teams, Creek Valley's 4x100 meter relay team won their event, while Creek Valley sophomore Caitlyn Mueller finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and in the Triple Jump. Potter-Dix senior Trinity Langley won the Triple Jump and the High Jump, while senior Payge Hoffman won the Long Jump and placed second in the 100 meter hurdles. She also placed third in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters. Leyton sophomore Madelyn Watchorn won the 100 meter hurdles and placed third in the 300 meter hurdles.

Both Leyton and Potter-Dix next compete at the Cheyenne County Invitational at Sidney High School on Friday, while Creek Valley was scheduled to compete on Tuesday at the Best of the Mid-West Track Meet in Sutherland before also competing at the Cheyenne County Invitational on Friday.
