Potter-Dix Student Among Congressional Art Competition Winners

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adrian Smith recently announced the winners of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Nebraska.

Among those winners was Potter-Dix senior Audrey Juelfs. She entered a photo of an old Chevrolet farm truck, garnering fourth place in the contest. Her work will be displayed in Smith's Scottsbluff office.

Artwork by the first place winner will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The runners-up will have their art displayed in Rep. Smith's Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff offices.

"I want to congratulate the winners of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition and thank all the students who submitted artwork for consideration," Smith said. "These wonderful pieces will be displayed in the halls of Congress as well as my offices in Washington, D.C. and Nebraska. I also want to thank all of the teachers who encourage students to exercise their talent and creativity."

Winners included:

First Place: "Giraffe" by Arielle Buck of Bayard. Arielle's work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Second Place: "Photo Milk Weed" by Rilee Howard of Litchfield. Rilee's work will be displayed in Smith's Washington, D.C. office.

Third Place: "Watercolor of Child" by Haylee Vice of Falls City. Haylee's work will be displayed in Smith's Grand Island office.

Fourth Place: "Photo Truck" by Audrey Juelfs of Potter. Audrey's work will be displayed in Smith's Scottsbluff office.
