Campa, Zamora Held in Logan County, Colo., Following Arrest

Maria Victoria Campa, 37, and Carlos Zamora, Jr., 41, are being held in Logan County Jail, Sterling, Colo., following her arrest on July 18.

The pair, were arrested, along with two juveniles, on U.S. Highway 138 near Iliff in Logan County. One of the juveniles was a six-week-old infant taken from the Sidney area. According to a press release from the Sidney Police Department, the infant was taken in the early hours of July 17. Authorities spent the day attempting to contact the Campa and Zamora Jr. when they learned the family was enroute to Kansas or Arizona.

On Wednesday, July 18, arrest warrants were issued for Campa and Zamora, Jr., for Violation of a Custody Order, a Class 4 felony. An Amber Alert was also activated.

According to the Logan (Colorado) County Sheriff's Office release, the two were contacted when deputies recognized Campa as the driver of a vehicle on Highway 138. A juvenile female was sitting in the passenger seat, and a child was sitting in a carseat in the back. Deputies also observed a man laying down in the back seat who was immediately identified as Zamora, Jr.

In addition to the Cheyenne County charges of Violation of a Custody Order (Class 4 Felony), the two are facing charges in Logan County for First Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (Class 5 Felony) and Second Degree Burglary (Class 3 Felony).

Campa is scheduled for a Status Conference in Logan County District Court on Aug. 15. Zamora, Jr., is scheduled for a Status Conference on his charges Aug. 22. According to Operations Lt. Dennis Aulston of the LCSO, Zamora, Jr., and Campa entered the residence of an associate in Iliff, Colo., taking the keys to the associate's vehicle and driving away. The victim of the theft said neither Campa nor Zamora Jr. had permission to take the vehicle.
