Bayard Bests Leyton/Banner County Warriors

Leyton’s 2018 football season opened with a road game against Bayard County Friday night, and the Warriors found themselves unable to handle Bayard’s high scoring offense. The game quickly slipped away from Leyton, as the Tigers ran off 23 unanswered points in the first quarter, and continued to score ending the half with a 44-to-6 lead.

Leyton was victimized by four turnovers, three via interception and one fumble, which stopped any chance of the Warriors generating momentum or keeping the Tigers’ high scoring offense off of the field. In the second half with the game out of reach, Leyton was able to outscore Bayard 13-to-8, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tigers first half onslaught.

Leyton starts its’ season in a 0-an-1 hole, but gets a chance to earn its’ first win of the season at home as they face the Morrill Lions on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Leyton High School in Dalton.
