Dalton Celebrates Community Sept. 14-16

The Dalton community will be rolling out the welcome mats this weekend for residents and visitors alike.

The 91st Dalton Fall Festival is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-16. Festivities begin 5 p.m. Friday with a Potato Bar at Legion Hall hosted by the Legion Auxiliary. Following the fellowshipping with friends and neighbors, burn off some of the carbs with the Glow Walk from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the south side of Leyton High School.

Saturday’s festivities start early with the Senior Citizens Coffee and Rolls at Leyton High School 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. A free will donation will be accepted. Following the coffee and rolls, the parade starts at 10:30 a.m. This year’s parade theme is “Under Construction.”

The Crafts Fair opens at 11 a.m. at the Legion Hall. It will remain open until 3 p.m.

A Mexican food meal, pie and ice cream and a raffle will be offered starting at noon at the Community Shepherd Building at the corner of Francis and Elliot Streets. The lunch is hosted by the Community Shepherds. The lunch will be available until 2 p.m.

Also from noon to 2 p.m. is chalk art at Leyton School.

The Sons of the American Legion will be hosting root beer floats at Legion Hall. The American Legion will be hosting bingo in the Legion Hall basement from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

A horseshoe tournament is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. at the water tower.

Kids games and karaoke will take place at Legion Park from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. A dunk tank will be at the park from noon to 4 p.m.

The annul Kick Ball Tournament will start at 2 p.m. at 5680 County Road 113.

MARC1 is scheduled to be at Leyton High School football field between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Dozer Games will take place at Legion Park between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

A freewill donation BBQ dinner will be provided at Legion Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Blake Thompson “Through the Years” will be performing at Leyton High School at 7:15 p.m., and the street dance starts at 8:30 p.m. at Big V’s with a live performance by Victory Underground.

Sunday’s celebration includes a community gathering at Leyton High School gym at 10 a.m., followed by the Boy Scouts Troop 92 Pancake Feed at Leyton High School multi-purpose room until 1 p.m.

The Dalton Volunteer Fire Department Feed will be at the Dalton Fire Hall, supported by donations, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
