Nebraska Arts Council Awards HPAC $5,000 Grant

SIDNEY — The High Plains Arts Council (HPAC) recently announced it has been awarded a $5,096 grant from the Nebraska Arts Council to support the 2018-2019 season.

“The High Plains Arts Council contributes a great deal to advancement of the arts in Sidney,” said Nebraska Arts Council executive director Suzanne Wise. The Nebraska Arts Council (NAC), a a state agency, provides grants, services and special initiatives that help sustain and promote the arts throughout Nebraska. NAC is supported by the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, Nebraska Legislature and National Endowment for the Arts.

“We appreciate the Nebraska Arts Council’s support,” said HPAC president Carrie Brown. “Their generosity has made it possible for us to bring quality performing artists to Sidney and still keep our prices remarkably low.”

She said a lot of hard work has gone into planning this year’s concert series.

“Our hard-working volunteers have planned an exciting 31st season with something for everyone,” said Brown. “We are bringing a variety of toe-tapping rhythms to Sidney, everything from the rock’n and roll’n of an Elvis Tribute artist, the invigorating strains of a brass band, and the smooth sounds celebrating iconic folk artist John Denver.”

HPAC’s season opens Sept. 22 with Joseph Hall’s tribute to Elvis Presley. Hall was a finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent and was named Branson, Mo.’s 2014 Male Former of the Year. He will be followed by Crane Theory, a fusion band specializing in jazz, funk, rock and blues on Oct. 12.

Members who buy a season ticket can attend every evening performance at a reduced price. Sponsors receive multiple transferrable season tickets, a tax deduction, and recognition in all HPAC programs.
