Some Closures Expected Today for Mourning

President Donald J. Trump has proclaimed Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 as a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush. Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honor his contributions to our country during his lifetime, some federal and state businesses will be closed.

Under the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on December 5.

Gov. Pete Ricketts also announced this week that all State of Nebraska offices will be closed. That includes the drivers testing office in Sidney.

Local banks, county and city offices, however, will be open as usual.

The Sun-Telegraph, which is delivered to homes by mail, won’t be delivered until Thursday because of the postal closing.
