School Board Recognizes Top Performers

Sidney Public Schools' top students were recognized at the board of education meeting Monday.

The student recognitions were through the Sidney Middle/Senior High School Monthly Performance Award Program.

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges student work not only through classroom achievement, but other factors as well. Those criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding Contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.

Recognized for the November Performance Awards are:

7th Grade – McGuire Rolls

McGuire Rolls has been nominated as the 7th grade student of the month. McGuire is an excellent student who consistently turns in quality work.  He leads by example, which encourages others to be and do their best. He is responsible and takes his responsibilities seriously, both at home and in school. McGuire has the initiative to get the job done.  McGuire is the son of Scott and Cindy Rolls.

8th Grade - Krishnaraj Ganesan

Krishnaraj Ganesan has been chosen as Sidney Middle School’s 8th grade Student of the Month for November. Krish was selected for his excellent work ethic and positive attitude. He strives to do his very best and is willing to take the extra steps to be successful. Krish is always pleasant and respectful to teachers and other students. Krish gets along well with his peers and is always willing to help out. For all of his positive attributes, Krish is an excellent choice to represent Sidney Middle School. Krish is the son of Ganesan Kanagarajan and Anitha Ganesan.

9th Grade – Lydia Peters

Lydia is such a great student, and friend. She takes pride in her work and is always sure to ask questions if she doesn't understand the material. In class, she is a frequent leader and will jump up and help other groups if she is done. She shows great patience and care for their learning as well. She's a rockstar. She is on the Cross Country team, a member of FCA, and student council. She loves to run and ride horses. Lydia is the daughter of Robert Peters.

10th Grade – Felicity Beyer

Felicity was selected because of her excellent Academic Performance. She is outstanding academically and hard working in other aspects in the community. Felicity is a member of the track team, speech team, & High Plains Choir. She is actively involved in 4-H and she would someday like to be a biology teacher. Felicity is the daughter of Mike & Melinda Beyer.

11th Grade – Caleb Luptak

Caleb has done a great job in his classes this year. He was selected because of his Academic Performance, and Classroom Effort/Attitude. He is an excellent student and always strives to do his best. Art & science are his best subjects. Caleb is the son of Kenan & Lisa Luptak.

12th Grade – Yoselin Parra

Yosi was selected because of her Classroom Effort/Attitude, and Leadership/Service/Citizenship. She has been doing a lot lately, well and successfully both in art class and with Journey. I believe she will be going into elementary education, and her performance of late indicates she will be a great teacher should she continue that path. She is a member of Art Club-Vice President, Auto Club, SkillsUSA, Journey Through Our Heritage, Girl Scouts, and Teammates. She currently works as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Sidney Care & Rehabilitation Center and plans on attending a four-year college after graduation and is undecided about her major. Yoselin is the daughter of Gustavo and Hermelinda Parra.
