Cheyenne County 4-H Shooting Sports Starts Soon

What do breaking clays, punching paper, flinging arrows and counting X's have in common with the 4-H program? All are part of the 4-H Shooting Sports project. Safety first - but lots of fun!

The Shooting Sports project is for 4-H members ages 8 – 18. Members learn safe gun handling skills and sound fundamentals of shooting while under the guidance of caring and knowledgeable adult volunteers.

4-H Shooting Sports uses the skills and disciplines of shooting to assist young people in obtaining knowledge and developing skills. Project choices for youth include: Archery, Shotgun (9+ years old), BB gun, Small bore Rifle - .22 caliber.

BB gun and archery practice will begin this month. BB gun practice will be held above the Sidney Sun Telegraph Building on 12th Avenue, date and time to be determined. Archery will be held at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds on Tuesdays, beginning January 15 from 5:30 – 7 p.m..

Participants must enroll in 4-H online at ne.4honline.com before practices begin. For more information on BB gun contact Bernie Fehringer at 254-2028 or email [email protected] and for archery contact Marshall Bowen at (720) 301-5501 or email [email protected] or [email protected].
