Ehrke New Volleyball Coach

Sidney High School announced the hiring of Marcus Ehrke as the new Head Volleyball Coach and as a physical education teacher starting in the fall of 2019.

Ehrke coached volleyball at Alma High School for five seasons, compiling a record of 75-and-68. Ehrke was selected as an Assistant Coach for the 2017 West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball game, and was also an Assistant Basketball Coach for the Alma Public School System.

Ehrke's interest in volleyball was sparked by going to his sister's volleyball games, and he coached club volleyball while in college. Ehrke saw the opportunity to coach and teach at a bigger school, contacted the Sidney administration, and decided to make the move west to Sidney. He comes to Sidney with his wife and two young sons, Paxton and Memphis, and looks forward to being part of a family oriented community.

"My family and I are very excited about the move to Sidney. When we visited for the first time, we loved the character the town had, and the amount of opportunities we feel are here for us," Ehrke said.

Ehrke said he is eager to start working with the volleyball team.

"I've always heard great things about the Sidney program as an outsider, and I know the program always has good talent and teams that compete very well amongst the best in Class B," he said.

Sidney High School Athletic Director Mike Brockhaus welcomes Ehrke to the Sidney High School community.

"We are excited for Mr. Ehrke and his family to be part of the Sidney community and look forward to his leadership on the volleyball court," Brockhaus said.
