Lady Coyotes End Losing Streak / Peetz Boys Win Big

It's been a long struggle to finally get their first win, but the Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes were able to secure their first victory Tuesday night against the visiting Peetz Lady Bulldogs in Potter, 30-to-27.

After a slow start by the Lady Coyotes that had them trailing 12-to-5 after the first quarter, sophomore Mary Kasten buried two three-point shots to narrow the Peetz lead while the Lady Coyotes defense stepped up the pressure against the Lady Bulldogs.

The game continued through its' conclusion as a tight, back-and-forth contest, and Potter-Dix kept up the intensity on defense and continued to score. It was their best effort of the season on both offense and defense.

Potter-Dix head coach Jeff Einspahr was thrilled with the victory, saying, "It was a total team effort. I am very proud of the way the girls have never given up this year and have worked hard to get better every practice. It really paid off tonight with our first victory of the season."

Junior Makayla Williamson led the scoring, hitting big shots throughout the game and ended with 12 points in the win. Senior Sierra Wheelock played outstanding defense with multiple steals and rebounds, while senior team captain Brooke Moench buried four consecutive free throw in the final minute to pull out the win.

In the boy's game, the powerhouse Peetz offense scored early and often against the Coyotes, cruising to a final score of 69-to-28 for the victory. Junior Cooper White led the Bulldog's scoring with 13 points, while senior Bryson Long tallied 12 points in the victory. The victory improves the Bulldog's record to 12-and-4, 5-and-1 in league.
