Bill D. Rush - Obituary

Bill D. Rush, age 89 of Sidney, NE passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, at his home in Sidney.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 23rd in the Light Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Mary Jo Dean officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has been held and friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-7:00 P.M., no family will be present. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Light Memorial Presbyterian Church. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Bill's care and funeral arrangements.

Billy David Rush, the son Fred Arthur and Mary Ethel (Bohrer) Rush, was born on October 10, 1929 in Minatare, NE, where he was raised. Bill entered in the military in 1948 and served in the Navy for four years. Bill received his Bachelor's Degree from Chadron State College and a Master's Degree from The University of South Dakota. On June 18, 1955 he married Donna Coe in Scottsbluff, NE and was married for 58 years before her death in 2013.

Bill taught high School Mathematics and Science for 31 years with Sidney Public Schools. Prior to Sidney, Bill taught school in Dalton. Bill enjoyed music and sang with the Fort Sidney Colonels and Light Memorial Presbyterian Church Choir for many years.

Bill is survived by (3) sons: Mike and wife Sherry of Omaha, NE, Rick and wife Geri of Littleton, CO, Bill of Denver, CO; and (4) grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Rush, wife Donna, and (3) Siblings.
