Tammy L. Sherman - Obituary

Tammy L. Sherman, age 53, of Sidney, NE passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Sidney.

A public gathering will be held from 1-5:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 30th in the Gehrig-Stitt Event Center, 1212 10th Ave., in Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tammy's name to the Sidney Public Schools Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 627, Sidney, NE, 69192. Tammy Leann Sherman, the daughter of John and Georgiann Harris, was born on October 16, 1965 in Lincoln, NE. She married Andrew Sherman on August 8, 1987 in Grand Island, NE. They have three daughters, Ella, Emma and Etta. Tammy was a stay-at-home mom while her girls were young and then returned to college to become an educator. She graduated from Peru State with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and received her Master's Degree in Education from Doane. In 2007, Tammy began teaching at Westside Schools in Omaha for 8 years and was Vice President of the Westside Education Association. In 2015, she started teaching at Sidney Public Schools.

Tammy was an excellent cook, baker, gardener, avid reader, pet lover and an active volunteer. She was a member of the Nebraska State Education Association.

Tammy is survived by her husband Andrew (aka Sherm) of Sidney; (3) daughters: Ella McKinney and husband Brett of Englewood, CO, Emma Sherman of Sidney and Etta Sherman of Sidney; mother: Georgiann Harris of Scottsbluff, NE; (3) brothers: Troy Harris and wife Carol of Grand Island, NE, Jeff Harris and wife Lynn of Louisville, KY, Doug Cleave of Kansas City, MO; (1) sister: Marla Baer and husband Chris of Scottsbluff, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father John Harris.
