Guadalupe H. 'Ruby' Ramirez - Obituary

Guadalupe "Ruby" Helen Ramirez, age 90, of Arapahoe, NE and former longtime resident of Lodgepole, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at The Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, NE with family at her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 27, 2019 with a rosary service at 10:00 A.M. Both services will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chappell with Father Kenneth Wehrs from St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe, NE officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Lodgepole. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-7:00 P.M. with family present from 4-6:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's name to the Good Samaritan Society, Box 448, Arapahoe, NE 68922. Guadalupe Helen "Ruby" Ramirez was born August 18, 1928, in Anaheim, California to Braulio and Maria (Picon) Barron. On November 21, 1953 she married Thomas R. Ramirez at St. Ann Catholic Church in Lexington, NE. To this union three children were born: Andy, Benita, and Anthony. They lived in Colton, NE where Thomas worked on the railroad and Ruby was a loving housewife and mother. Then they moved to Lodgepole where they lived for over 60 years. Before Ruby was married she worked for a cafe in North Platte then she worked for Harold and Clare Banks of Lexington which she was a nanny to their granddaughter Cherie Ruppe. After she married she worked for Keith and Frances Deaver and Gladys Krueger of Colton, NE, in Sidney she worked at U.S. Apron, Safeplay, Cabela's, and McDonald's for a short time. She loved to cook so she cooked Mexican food at the Coffee Cup Cafe in Lodgepole.

Survivors include her children: Andy (Shelly) Ramirez of Denver, CO; Benita (Merle) Adams of Arapahoe, NE, and Anthony Ramirez of Lodgepole, NE, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. 7 sisters: Nellie Rodriguez of Kansas City, KS, Tony ( Charles) Barron of North Platte, NE, Jennie Blea of Atwood, CO, Mary Lou(Reyes)Robles of Lexington, NE, Patty Zamora of Kansas City, MO, Susie ( Jesse) Duarte of Bertrand, NE, and Veronica Perez of Arapahoe, NE. Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas, grandson Jeremy Ramirez, her parents, brothers; Florentino Barron and David Barron; sisters Andrea Gonzalez and Ramona Barron; brother-in-law's, Leo Gonzalez, Valentino Blea, Mike Rodriguez, Ralph Zamora, John Perez and as well as many other relatives.
