The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in Sidney recorded 30 runners this year. The run occurred Wednesday, May 22, starting at 5 p.m. from McDonalds. Runners then traveled west before turning north to Hickory Street Square. Runners much sign a waiver to participate in the two-mile walk. Shirts were $15 each with proceeds supporting the Nebraska Special Olympics program. The number of walkers/runners is about average for Sidney, according to Sidney Police Officer Keith Anderson. The event had a high number of 100 about two years ago, Anderson said. The program was co-chaired through the Sidney Police Department by Code Enforcement Officer Lisa Hanley and Anderson.
